Luxury Cameron Highlands Escapade
Overview
After being ‘discovered’ by Sir William Cameron in 1885, the Cameron Highlands developed expansive hill station estates that grew in popularity throughout the roaring twenties, when English ex-pats were drawn here as a respite from the heat of the city to enjoy the scenic vistas while they played golf and took afternoon tea.
Today’s guests enjoy the same scenery and timeless leisure pursuits whilst staying at the luxurious Cameron Highlands Resort; take earl grey with scones at this classic resort established in the 1930s.
It is now a luxury hotel that offers tea baths at the full service spa, sits adjacent to the Golf Course and enjoys its own countryside hiking trails; accommodation is in colonial styled rooms and there is a ballroom, tea room, billiard rooms and reading room to explore.
(In some instances the tour may use an alternative yet similar resort of the same standard).
As well as two nights at a luxury resort, the tour also takes you to the famous Batu Caves, where the shrine of the Hindu deity Lord Subramanian is set within an outcrop of limestone caves. On your second day you will have the opportunity to learn about the tea industry and the history of this hill resort and peek into the past of Cameron Highlands through a photographic gallery at the Time Tunnel Museum.
The Cameron Highlands make an easy and delightful side trip to add to a Kuala Lumpur stay, the area is also perfectly located for a visit en-route to Penang. The tour can be arranged on a private basis, just for you and your travelling companions or you can join a small group tour. (DTM)
