Eating, drinking and enjoying the nightlife in China
Eating
Chinese cuisine is famous in the UK for ‘sweet and sour’ and crispy duck, but you’ll find out that the real deal is something very different, and better in every way. Firstly, ‘Chinese cuisine’ varies enormously depending on region, so it cannot be described as a style of cooking in itself. You should try to eat the local dishes in any region that you visit, as they will no doubt be at their best here. Of course, this is also a huge multi-cultural and international country, so in any city you’ll be able to find cuisine from all over the world.
Drinking and Nightlife
If you’re looking for a good soft drink, you can’t do better than the ubiquitous tea. Tsingtao is a favoured local beer, while rice wine is another locally-brewed drink that should really be tried. Karaoke is bizarrely popular, especially in the big cities.
